The paintings are based on works by old masters such as Sandro Botticelli, Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun, and Ingres. From the preliminary collage emerges a composition filtered through my sensitivity.
The variability of humans is an inherent part of life experience. How we perceive ourselves and others, how we interpret the world, stems from how we were raised. Each person has a unique way of perceiving reality. How we see other people is a result of our own experiences and values, but also our emotional state, social context, and relationship with that person. We all carry defense mechanisms within us, creating our image by hiding uncomfortable elements. Thus, the perception of the world is distorted.
